Help us campaign today for a better tomorrow!
My wife and I share the same story that so many in our city can tell. We discovered Fairhope many years ago, and after finding it, we could never think of living anywhere else. After having lived all over the country, Fairhope is the place we've chosen to raise our family due to the charm and quality of life we find here. Our community is blessed with great culture, people, and amenities. However, rampant development and recurrent infrastructure challenges threaten to lower our standard of living. I'm running to ensure Fairhope stays the idyllic city that we all love far into the future.
I'm a husband to an amazing wife of 10 years (Elizabeth), a father of three beautiful children (Isaiah, Ava Marie, and Evelyn), a parishioner of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Fairhope, and an experienced hotelier at the finest resort in Alabama. I have always been drawn to service in the community and solving complex problems. I know what it means to balance a budget, lead a team, and achieve results. But I also know the importance of giving back and supporting those around you. I believe in honesty and transparency in government, being a good steward of taxpayer money, and ensuring the conservative values of our community are reflected in our representatives.
We all know this is a wonderful place to live, and we all understand the desire to live here. But if we allow our growth to occur too quickly, or too densely, then the city we love becomes something we don't recognize. Let's give our city, and infrastructure, time to catch-up to the massive growth we've already experienced. My proposal would pause those large tract, high-density projects that add too many additional residents too quickly.
Sewage spilling into Mobile Bay after storms, water shortages in the summer, and traffic and congestion getting worse every year. Our growth is moving faster than our ability to support it. We need more improvements, managed growth, and plans for the future. Let's have a plan to solve the next 30 years of growth and development, and fix our current problems as quickly as possible.
A reputation is something that takes a lifetime to earn but only a moment to lose. Our parks, our downtown, our festivals, and our parades must be held to the highest standards. If we want Fairhope to continue to be the "Utopia on the Bay" then we must work hard to ensure our facilities and actions support that charm, not diminish it. Let's have the best parks, facilities, and downtown in the state! That means engaging our businesses, requiring a standard of excellence, and properly funding efforts to attract tourists and residents.
Like a business, the city of Fairhope needs to live within its means. We need to have fiscal restraint and not have waste in the budget. We need to ensure our first responders have the resources they need to operate and we need to make sure our roads are drivable and parks and recreation facilities are top notch. But we also need to give back to the residents. Let's lower, or eliminate, the local grocery sales tax on life's essentials. Not only is this good for the community, but it will attract residents from surrounding areas to shop in Fairhope.
The residents of Fairhope need to have open and transparent government. I will always represent Fairhope with honesty and integrity. During this campaign, I want to hear from the voters. I want them to text or call me if they have questions or concerns. I will always have an open door policy with those I represent. If elected, I serve on behalf of the citizens of Fairhope. Your input is valid more than just once every 4 years. I pledge to hold frequent town hall meetings to get your input throughout my term.
